Surf -- with or without waves
Shot these a while ago at Myrtle Beach. I was using a tripod, my Nikon D200, and a Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 lens. The first shot I just stopped opened up to f/2.8 to see what I'd get. You can see the result -- the EXIF data follows.

More Barns not making the Competition Cut
In both of these pictures, the barns were not significant (central to the composition) to suit my tastes:
In the image above, I like the leading lines of the road taking you back to view the barn. (Note the tracks of the Amish buggy.) But the sky is drab -- not doing anything to add punch to the picture. The tree is pretty prominent as well.
I like the layers of the above image with the goats in the foreground, the stream meandering throughout, but the barn's view is obscured somewhat by the foliage. I can (& did) better, IMHO.

Barn off US 19, not used for competition
This barn is located off of US 19 north of Zelionople. I shot it near sunset, handheld. I adjusted it in Camera Raw and used the High Pass Filter & procedure to sharpen it.
June competition for New Castle Camera Club is barns. Won't be using this shot, obviously. Shot with Nikon D300 and Nikkor 35-70 AF f/2.8 lens @38mm, 1/80 sec. @ F/4.2. ISO 1600, -0.7 exposure compensation.

Ascending to Breakneck Bridge
I had found Breakneck Falls and was preparing to photograph the falls when a father and son appeared on the bridge. The son was rappelling down from the side of the bridge and then ascending also using ropes and knots. The father asked me to take some shots -- which I did. These two shots were of the ascent, taken from a distance using my D300 and my Nikkor AF-S VR lens. The climber was brightly back lit, thus silhouetted. So, in Photoshop Elements 6, I adjusted the exposure using Levels, but then applied the "Paint Daubs" filter in the first image.
The second image here has had the "Fresco" filter applied.

Base of Alpha Falls
Here are the base rocks of Alpha Falls, McConnell's Mill State Park. For some unknown reason I shot 1600 ISO. I used 0.6 ND Filter and Moose Warm Polarizer. Doh!
Anyway, there was direct sunlight on the falls in the afternoon, 4 PM or so -- not the best of conditions. BUT I discovered Breakneck Falls. More on that later.

SEO book acquisition
Just bought a book from Amazon.com on search engine optimization (SEO) by Kristopher B. Jones (hyperlink takes you to the book -- check the table of contents.) As I learn more about SEO by reading the book, I'll post some tips here on marketing my photography Website, http://fredjennyphotography.com. There are many other excellent Web resources on Web 2.0 and small business. I'll share those as well as I have time to examine them.
As I read the descriptions and reviews about SEO books on Amazon, this one seem to be the meatiest, but not necessarily for the programmer. We'll see.

Fuel and Fuddle in Oakland on Meyran
If you're in Oakland, try Fuel and Fuddle on Meyran, just off of Forbes Avenue. Great place to eat -- excellent salads and great suds!Took this with Nikon D300, the Nikkor 24-70 AF-S f/2.8 lens at 70mm, ISO 200, center-weighted metering because of the bright sky, f/9 for 1/320 sec., exposure compensation of -0.7. I had left on Tungsten White Balance after being indoors at the Cathedral of Learning, so I had to remove a blue cast before posting.
Blogger does NOT like an ampersand in the filename of the picture!

Changed my Blog domain with Eclipse

For your information, I changed my blog site from "FarleysFotoBlog" to "FredJennyPhotography."
We had an eclipse back February 20, 2008, and here is a composite of the full moon and the eclipse. I shot this with my Nikon D200 and my Nikkor 80-400mm AF-VR lens racked out to 400mm, ISO 400 on my CF tripod, F/9 for 1/320 sec. I spot-metered on the moon. Spotted the two separate images together in Photoshop Elements 6.

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED
Used this StoboFrame bracket at an event the other night. It was my Dad's. I like it. It moves easily from landscape to portrait mode, locking in either mode. Very handy. Image from http://amazon.com/

Purchased the Nikkor 24-70mm AF-S F/2.8G lens a short while ago. Worth every penny. Shot a retirement party: Nikon D300, MB-D10 battery pack, SB-800 flash, this lens, on a StrobaFrame flash frame. The system performed like a champ. 150 images, only needed to adjust one -- that was a flash shot the large, empty, banquet room that needed some lightening.
