More Barns not making the Competition Cut

In both of these pictures, the barns were not significant (central to the composition) to suit my tastes: In the image above, I like the leading lines of the road taking you back to view the barn. (Note the tracks of the Amish buggy.) But the sky is drab -- not doing anything to add punch to the picture. The tree is pretty prominent as well.

I like the layers of the above image with the goats in the foreground, the stream meandering throughout, but the barn's view is obscured somewhat by the foliage. I can (& did) better, IMHO.
Shot both of these May 24, 2009, north of Lancaster, PA, on a road trip from Philly. Nikon D300, Nikkor 24-70 AF-S F/2.8 lens.
